I give talks about the Knowledge Café and run them privately or frequently in large conference settings as in the video below. In these talks I explain:
- The power of conversation
- The rationale behind the Café
- The basic Café process
- The applications of the Café
People come away with a better appreciation of the power of conversation and a sufficient understanding of the Knowledge Café that they can start to adopt the principles in their everyday work.
A session normally lasts between 50 and 60 minutes. I present for 20 – 30 minutes, followed by 20 – 30 minutes for conversation and Q&A.
This video was taken at the KM Egypt Conference, September 21-22 2010 where I was invited to run a Knowledge Café. In the video, I describe the Knowledge Café process and you get to see it in action and hear some of the insights from the people taking part. The room and the tables are not an ideal setting for a Knowledge Café nor is the reporting back process but I frequently need to adapt the Café to fit the room and the size of the audience.
